Democrat Tom Daschle became the first Senate leader in a half century to be voted out of office, according to network projections.
This was a really important race for me, second only to the presidency, since one of my main problems with democrats is their two faceness to get elected. Democrats will act one way in front of the voters, but vote completely differently on record. They know that a great majority of their base doesn’t follow politics closely, and are able to use this to their advantage. So democrats will go to black Churches and use the myth that black voters were suppressed in the 2000 election. Even though they know full well it isn’t true. They’ll pander to the fear of the poor and helpless about how free trade caused them to lose their job, even though they know full well that free trade is a good thing, and that free trade is good is one of the few things you can get economists to universally agree on. They’ll talk publicly about how gay marriage is not a good thing, or that they are against abortion, yet will universally support every bill that comes before them for both, including voting against bills that would make late term abortions illegal. They’ll campaign as conservatives yet be one of the most liberal senators in voting. At least with conservatives, you may disagree, but you know what you’re getting.
Tom Dasche was the best at mastering this art. He would continually portray himself as a conservative yet vote extremely liberal in the senate, and this in a state that predominantly went Republican. He even went so far as to use a clip of him hugging the president immediately after one of his state of the union speeches in a campaign ad he ran, as if to imply he has been supportive of the Presidents agenda, yet the voting record showing the exact opposite.
Well this election year that has changed. Because of the overwhelming power of bloggers, and a very efficient campaign by the John Thune team, voters in South Dakota were able to see Tom Daschle for what he is, a true liberal. They were finally able to make an informed decision of what they want in the senate. And they chose a Republican.
If South Dakota wants a conservative in the senate, they should get someone who actually is a conservative, and not someone who merely acts like one.

Yeah!! I took great Satisfaction in seeing Tom Daschle lose his senate seat.
Thank god that these elections are over. Time for me to take a nice soothing vacation.
