What Makes A School Good? Ask A Conservative!

Thomas Sowell notes something very interesting:

Despite widespread concerns expressed about the abysmal educational performances of most black schools, there is remarkably little interest in those relatively few black schools which have met or exceeded national standards.

Anyone who is serious about the advancement of blacks would want to know what is going on in those ghetto schools whose students have reading and math scores above the national average, when so many other ghetto schools are miles behind in both subjects. But virtually all the studies of such schools have been done by conservatives, while liberals have been strangely silent.

blah blah blah. When are we ever going to get away from all of the right/left rhetoric in this nation? Neither side is ever 100% right on nearly any issue. Who cares who authored that study? Must it be pointed out that the person was specifically conservative? Can the article simply not stand on it’s own via the point it trys to make? Perhaps the pundits in this country would have greater impact if they’d try to target the average American who really makes the difference — the moderates in the middle. The way left and way right are BOTH so consumed with their near full scale hatred of the other that they often seem blinded to what might actually be good for the ENTIRE nation not just the narrow band of society that wholly agrees with every thing they have to say. That is why I think both are destined to failure by way of never being able to remain in power for long. After a while, the country as a whole gets sick of them and decided to at least go with the other for a while .. at least until they’re sick of them too.
