An Unusual University

The Welfare State Were In blog points to this very interesting University in Guatemala:

I am told that there is a remarkable private university in Guatemala. It is much bigger than Britain’s only private university, Buckingham, although the population of Guatemala is much smaller.

Apparently it has had 12,000 students but it is hiving off the purely vocational courses and then will be left with 3,000 students - still far more than Buckingham. Apparently it is very free-market oriented with rooms named after people like Hakek and Milton Friedman.

The University is la Universidad Francisco Marroquín, and this is on its website:

The mission of Universidad Francisco Marroquín is to teach and disseminate the ethical, legal and economic principles of a society of free and responsible persons.

The University’s website is found here.
