Quote Of The Day

“In the US, the problem now is primary and secondary education. We’ve had such an increase in inequality because a quarter of American kids don’t finish high school! In the current world, with the skills needed, those dropouts are condemned to being members of the underclass. In my view, this is a fault of the American school system, which is a government monopoly”. –Milton Friedman, an interview with Milton Friedman in The New Perspectives Quarterly

I think laying the blame entirely on schools oversimplig=fies the problem. Parents are responsible for their children and their education, not schools blaming the system is a cop out, the problem lies with today’s parents who are afraid to say no to their children who want to be more of a friend to their children than an authority figure.
