True HP. His overall point may still be valid.

(Honestly, I don't particularly care all that much, since gay marriage is not even in the top one hundred of the "Issues I Think Are Important".)

Point taken. Either way though, Sowell's overall point is still valid: polygamists, like gay marriage, can be outlawed without violating "Equal treatment of individuals".

I feel like today must be "Bash Thomas Sowell Day". Sorry.

Sowell is wrong here (again). Warren Jeffs is not on the FBI's Most Wanted List because he is a polygamist. That would be silly. He is on the Most Wanted List because he is a child molester.

WARREN STEED JEFFS, THE LEADER OF A POLYGAMOUS SECT, IS WANTED FOR THE ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT ON A MINOR IN 2002. HE IS ALSO WANTED FOR ONE COUNT OF CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT SEXUAL CONDUCT WITH A MINOR IN 2002. THE ALLEGED OFFENSES TOOK PLACE IN THE VICINITY OF COLORADO CITY, ARIZONA. ADDITIONALLY, JEFFS IS WANTED FOR RAPE AS AN ACCOMPLICE IN UTAH.

Put another way, discrimination can be either good or bad. If I discriminate based on another's behavior, why is that good or bad?

On the other hand, if I discriminate based only on another's racial features, that's another story, isn't it?

Face it: we all discriminate. It's the nature of the discrimination that determines its badness.
