Quote Of The Day

“[Conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence] Thomas was talking about how surprisingly positively he has been received in campuses around the country over the past two decades. It is mostly the faculty, not the students or the public that are tough on him. Of course, there are some law schools he does not expect an invitation from. “About the only way I would get invited to Columbia is if I was a Middle East dictator with nuclear weapons.”” — Richard Miniter, writing about his Dinner With Clarence Thomas and Thomas’s new book, My Grandfather’s Son: A Memoir

I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there’s something I don’t like about a sitting Supreme Court Justice making the rounds of the right-wing talk shows parroting partisan talking points…

Oh, now I think I know what it is!

Of course, I would be likewise uncomfortable with a sitting Supreme Court Justice making the rounds of the leftish talkers, parroting the causes of victimhood, enhanced interdependence, “we know what’s best for you”…

Seems to be a bit of paranoia. Seems he has been invited–and declined. See http://volokh.com/archives/archive_2007_09_30-2007_10_06.shtml#1191444913.
