Quote Of The Day

“White liberals frown on independent thinking by minorities. Some of them claimed that Thomas was pulling up the ladder behind him and so they pulled the rug out from under him. These are the folks who claim credit for the success of those minorities they agree with while trying to discredit those with whom they disagree.” –Ruben Navarette, on Clarence Thomas and his treatment by liberals

As a white liberal, I want to thank Mr. Naverette for understanding me so well. It is amazing how someone who has never met me or even heard of me can know so much about my thoughts regarding minorities. Thank you for group a group of millions of people as one homogenous thought block who all believe the exact same thing.

One thing about liberals and the democratic party is that all of the different subdivisions within the party all think in lock-step with one another.

It is this group think and prejudice which advances the poltical discourse at a high level in this country.

Thank you Ruben for sharing your brilliance with us liberals.

He was addressing a certain kind of liberal, not all. He wrote, “These are the folks who claim credit for the success of those minorities they agree with while trying to discredit those with whom they disagree.”

    It is two different thoughts.

    First thought:
“White liberals frown on independent thinking by minorities.

    Second thought:
Some of them claimed that Thomas was pulling up the ladder behind him and so they pulled the rug out from under him. These are the folks who claim credit for the success of those minorities they agree with while trying to discredit those with whom they disagree.”

In the first sentence he describes “White liberals frowning upon independent thought”

Then in the second part he further stratifies that some liberals claimed he was pulling up the ladder…

So his thoughts are all white liberals frown on independent thinkibg minorities even though only some claimed he pulled up the ladder.

Between Mavarette, Limbaugh O’Reilly they are just so much more intellegent than us that they say something and we just are not quite bright enough to figure it out.

    Who are the elitists?

Thats not the same as elitism…elitism is when you think you can make decisions better than one can make for themselves.

Navarette decided that he knows how i feel better than I do.

“A few white liberals frown on independent thinking by minorities. Of these, some have claimed that Thomas was pulling up the ladder behind him and, of this small group of liberals, an even smaller group pulled the rug out from under him. This very, very small group of people are the folks who claim credit for the success of those minorities they agree with while trying to discredit those with whom they disagree.” –Ruben Navarette, on Clarence Thomas and his treatment by a very, very small group of liberals

OK. I’ve fixed it so that both Michael and HP can live with it. No need to thank me. ;)

There are only two kinds of people: Those that don’t over-generalize, and me. :)

I like the fix but I would have used ‘many’ instead of ‘few’, and ‘large’ instead of ’small’…but hey, who am I to quibble over misplaced words here and there. :-)
