“McDonald’s exemplifies the role of small businesses in Americans’ upward mobility. The company is largely a confederation of small businesses: 85 percent of its U.S. restaurants — average annual sales, $2.2 million — are owned by franchisees. McDonald’s has made more millionaires, and especially black and Hispanic millionaires, than any other economic entity ever, anywhere.” — George Will, discussing McDonalds rapid growth

Great quote, HP! For all the smack people talk about McDonald’s (last month I agreed to proof some idiot’s “research” paper on how McDonald’s is destroying the black community) I’ve never heard of any blacks or Latinos becoming millionaires off the welfare system!
I just found this kick-ass article last night that you should definitely check out: Was Jesus a Libertarian? http://www.geocities.com/fountoftruth/jesuslbt.html
My favorite quote from this particular article addresses the welfare system.
“When Jesus says to give to the poor, He does not mandate a welfare department and expanded powers for the tax police. In fact, He repeats the Old Testament commandment against theft (Matthew 19:18), thus putting His stamp of approval on private property. The New Testament also states that, “If a man will not work, he shall not eat” (II Thessalonians 3:10) and that “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (II Corinthians 9:7). God asks for a voluntary contribution of 10 percent of our earnings, whereas Caesar puts a gun at our heads for half of our earnings.”
Feliz ano nuevo!
